From surviving to thriving: a journey down unknown paths

Like many other moms, I was fortunate enough to be able to stay home with my son when he was young. I worked before giving birth, but after, with the extreme cost of child care it was more cost-effective for me to stay home. Many times over the 15 years I’ve been a stay-at-home mom I have tried repeatedly to find something “work from home” to no avail. I knew that it could be done but never could seem to find a way to make it work for my situation. I honestly think I was just going at it in the wrong frame of mind. Most things you find when researching lead you to believe you can make thousands of dollars in weeks with hardly any time or effort, in my experience that is BS. It may be possible with many things, but you’re gonna have to put in the time and work. This is my journey of finding what works and what it takes to make it work.

Welcome To surviving Your Path

I’ve started surviving your path for everyone on the same path as I am. People who want to work from home with flexible schedules that let them lead the lives they want. People who struggle with mental health and find it hard to work in what society considers normal work environments. Parents who just want to be able to support their kids and still be active in their lives. People who want financial security on their terms. I want all of these things myself and have tried several times over the past 15 years to find something that allowed me these freedoms only to be met with frustration and disappointment. When researching trying to find things that check all these boxes you come across so many things promising you ways to make thousands of dollars a month and those things may be able to accomplish that but where the issue lies is that everyone makes it seem like these things are overnight successes and they just aren’t. And that’s normally where I would get frustrated, trying to figure out where I went wrong. Truth is the only thing I did wrong was thinking that it would be easy and not work. So this time around I’m doubling down. These side hustles and “work-from-home” jobs are just that, jobs, and should be treated as such if you hope to get anywhere. They may lead to mostly passive income over time but you have to put in the work to get them there. So this is my journey of researching and trying side hustles and figuring out the work that goes into them to earn an actual living so that I can not only succeed but help other people with a no-BS approach to this.

The story of

Me

I’m a 35-year-old mom and wife who has been fortunate enough to stay at home for the past 15 years. It’s been a struggle due to the high cost of childcare, but it was the best option for us. However, over the years, I began to lose myself. I had only identified as a mom and wife, and looking back, I see that it was a mistake. Rediscovering myself has been a tough journey. I struggle with anxiety and depression, which can make everyday tasks incredibly difficult. I’ve never been the type of person to stick to just one thing, so when I decided I was ready for a change, I started working towards changing everything that made me unhappy, without a clear plan, just a general destination in mind. As you may have guessed, it was a disaster. After getting frustrated and discouraged multiple times, I realized that I needed at least a rough plan that I could adjust as I moved forward. That’s why I’ve started this blog to document all the things I’m trying.  My family is my biggest supporter on this journey. I couldn’t do it without them. It’s sure to be one hell of an adventure.
